Personal host pool user self-service
Note: The Advanced Features described below are available only in the Nerdio Manager Premium edition.
Configure host pool user self service settings
Nerdio Manager allows you to configure which self-service functions a user can perform on their personal host pool. This includes starting, restarting, or stopping their desktop, and more.
Note: Users must be assigned the Nerdio Manager RBAC End User role by an administrator to be able to access the self service portal.
To configure personal host pool user self-service options:
Locate the personal host pool you wish to work with.
From the more options
menu, select Settings.

In the new dialog box, on the User Self-Service Portal tab, enter the following information:

Standard Features: Configure the following standard features:
Allow Users to START Desktop: Select this option to allow users to start their desktops.
Allow Users to RESTART Desktop: Select this option to allow users to restart their desktops.
Allow Users to STOP Desktop: Select this option to allow users to stop their desktops.
Allow end users to RESET own FSLogix profiles:End-users can reset their FSLogix profiles related to the host pool when they are assigned a role on this host pool.

Premium Features: Configure the following premium features:

Allow end users to RESIZE desktop: Select this option to allow users to resize their desktop.

Configure the following information:
Allowed VM sizes: From the drop-down list, select the allowed VM changes. If you leave this field blank, this disables VM size changes.
Allowed disk types: From the drop-down list, select the allowed disk type changes. If you leave this field blank, this disables the disk type changes
Allow disk size change: Select this option to enable disk size changes.
Restore desktops to their original size after: Enter the number of days or hours to wait before restoring desktops to their original size.

Restore when host: From the drop-down list, select the host status for resizing.
Note: Select from the following options:
Always: Re-sizes the host at the scheduled time, regardless of session activity.
Has no active sessions: Re-sizes the host only if there are no users with an active session (disconnected or empty).
Empty only: Re-sizes the host only when the host has no sessions.
Note: You may select allowed size(s) for resizing VMs and/or disks. Alternatively, leave any resizing option blank to disable the resizing option.

Allow end users to RE-IMAGE desktop: Select this option to allow users to re-image their desktop.
In the Allowed desktop images section, from the drop-down list, select the images that users can choose from.

Allow end users to RESTORE desktop: Select this option to allow users to restore their desktop from a previous backup.
Note: Backup on this host pool must be enabled to select this option.
From the drop-down list, select the recovery point the user can use.
Note: Select from the following options:
- Instant restore only: The user can only restore from the last recovery point.
All recovery points: The user can select the desired recovery point from all the available recovery points.
Allow end users to RESTORE desktop: Select this option to allow users.

Allow end users to CREATE desktop: Select this option to allow users to create desktops.
Note: This feature is only available for dynamic host pools. The VM parameters are taken from the auto-scale configuration. In addition, only assigned end users that do not have an existing desktop in the pool may create a new desktop.

Allow end users to RUN SCRIPTED ACTIONS on desktop Select this option to allow users to run scripted actions or scripted action groups on their desktop.

In the Allowed scripted actions section, from the drop down list, select the scripts you want to allow users to run.
Note: You can add multiple scripts.

Allow end users to INSTALL UAM APPS on desktop Select this option to allow users to install UAM apps on their desktop.
In the Allowed UAM apps section, from the drop down list, select the apps you want to allow users to run.

Allow end users to UPDATE TAGS of desktop: Select this option to allow users to update the Azure tags on their desktop.
In the Name field, enter the allowed tag name.
In the Values field, enter the allowed tag values.
Select the pencil
icon to allow end users to add and update tag values.
Select the trash can
icon to allow end users to delete the tag.
Select the plus + icon to add another tag.
Select the cross x icon to delete a tag.

Allow end users to DISABLE auto-scale: Select this option to allow users to exclude their desktop from scheduled auto-scale activities for the specified duration. This can be useful for users who perform batch operations, or for developers.
In the Maximum duration (days) field, enter the number of days to exclude the users desktop for.

Show notifications: Select this option to create a notification that appears on the self-service portal.
Use the editor create the notification message.

Use the State Date, End Date, and Timezone drop-down lists to create a schedule for the message.
Note: If a schedule is not specified, the notification is displayed on the self-service portal until it is removed here.

Once you have entered all the desired information, select Save or Save & close.
Manage host pool user self-service global settings
Nerdio Manager allows you to manage user self-service global settings such as changing the self-service portal's global notifications.
Note: For more details, see Manage Nerdio Manager console global settings.
To manage personal host pool user self-service global settings:
Navigate to Settings > Environment > Nerdio tab.
Scroll down to and expand the User self-service portal (global settings) section.
Select New.

In the new dialog box, enter the following information:
Use the editor create the notification message.
Use the State Date, End Date, and Timezone drop-down lists to create a schedule for the message.
To edit existing user self-service portal notifications:
Navigate to Settings > Environment > Nerdio tab.
Scroll down to and expand the User self-service portal (global settings) section.

Do the following:
To edit a notification, select the pencil
icon.
To delete a notification, select the trash can
icon.
Enable administrator self-service portal access
Administrators can access the user self-service portal from within their admin console.
To enable administrator access to the self-service portal:
Navigate to Settings > Environment > Nerdio tab.
Scroll down to and expand the User self-service portal (global settings) section.
In the Self-service portal for administrators section, select the toggle to Enabled.
In the Self-Service Portal for Administrators dialog box, select OK to enable the feature.

The self-service portal for administrators is now enabled.
Note: When enabled, the Desktops menu header is displayed on the left-hand side of the administrator console with an assigned desktop.
