User Cost Attribution Verify Cost in Azure Cost Management

Nerdio Manager allows you to capture and report on per-individual-user costs based on the allocation of the total cost of your AVD deployment (compute, storage, network, PaaS, SaaS, etc.) to individuals based on the duration of their usage of AVD desktops during the selected time frame.

The Nerdio Cost Attribution Report shows the total cost of your AVD Environment based on the cost accumulated in Azure Cost Management. The total cost you see in the Nerdio Cost Attribution Report matches the cost you see in Azure Cost Management. You have to select the correct times span, currency, and tags in order to verify the number.

To verify the cost in Azure Cost Management:

  1. From within the User Cost Attribution page, identify the configuration you wish to compare costs for.

  2. Take note of the connected subscriptions and the Azure reporting tags.

  3. Sign in to Azure Cost Management.

  4. Select the Cost analysis blade.

  5. Adjust the following settings:

    • Scope: Same subscription(s) as the configuration you wish to compare to

    • View: Cost by Resource

    • Time frame: Month

    • Filters:

      • Tag: Select all Key+Value pairs from your configuration.

Note: SaaS application costs and Gallery Image Costs aren’t able to be picked up by the Tag Filter in Cost Analysis, and need to be captured separately. To capture those costs, instead of a Tag Filter, you should apply a ‘Resource Type’ filter, and filter for ‘microsoft.compute/galleries/images’ and ‘Microsoft.SaaS/resources’.

If you add up all the cost of your subscription(s) with the correct tag filters and month and add the gallery images and SaaS resource cost the number matches with the number you see in the Nerdio User Cost Attribution dashboard.
