How Nerdio Manager charges appear in Microsoft billing

Nerdio Manager billing is typically transacted through the Azure Marketplace. Because of that, Nerdio charges usually do not appear as a standard Microsoft 365 seat SKU in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Instead, they are normally visible in Azure billing, tied to the subscription used for the Nerdio billing offer.

If your organization purchased Nerdio Manager through a partner or CSP, invoicing may be handled by that partner instead of appearing directly as an Azure Marketplace invoice in your tenant.

What to look for

When Nerdio billing is activated, the Marketplace offer to look for is Billing subscription to Nerdio Manager Enterprise. During that process, the billing deployment uses the resource named BillingForNerdioManager. Those are the most useful identifiers when your team is trying to confirm which subscription or invoice is tied to Nerdio charges.

Nerdio usage is billed based on entitlement consumption. For Nerdio Manager, each unique Entra ID user is billed only once per calendar month, based on the highest entitlement they used that month. Azure Virtual Desktop is highest, then Windows 365, and then UEM.

Where to find the invoice

For most Azure Marketplace purchases, the invoice is accessed in the Azure portal, not the Microsoft 365 admin center. In Azure, navigate to Cost Management + BillingInvoices. Microsoft states that invoices can be downloaded in the Azure portal, and invoice emails can also be enabled depending on the billing account type and permissions.

If the invoice is a Marketplace-related invoice, Microsoft says the Type column shows Azure Marketplace and Reservations. That is the clearest invoice label to filter on when separating Nerdio-related charges from other Azure charges.

Why you may not see invoices

If you do not see Invoices under Cost Management + Billing, the issue is usually one of these:

  • You are in the wrong billing scope or tenant. Azure billing is tied to a billing account and scope, and users with access to multiple billing scopes may need to switch to the correct one. Microsoft notes that the billing account type and accessible scopes can be checked in the Azure portal.

  • You have Azure resource access but not billing access. For MCA and MPA billing accounts, Microsoft requires a billing profile role such as Owner, Contributor, Reader, or Invoice Manager to download invoices.

  • Your organization is on an Enterprise Agreement. Microsoft notes that EA customers can view Azure Marketplace external service spending under Usage + charges, which may be more relevant than the standard invoice view when checking Marketplace consumption.

  • Your Nerdio purchase was made through a partner or distributor. In that case, the invoice may come from the partner rather than appearing directly in your Azure invoice list. It’s worth noting that with a Partner invoice, presentation can vary in terms of itemization.

How to identify the correct subscription

If you are unsure which Azure subscription is tied to Nerdio billing, search the Azure portal for the Marketplace billing resource name BillingForNerdioManager. Once you find it, check the Subscription column or open the resource context to confirm which Azure subscription is associated with the billing offer. That subscription is the one to inspect for Marketplace charges.

Expected billing behavior

For Azure Marketplace customers, Nerdio charges are included in the monthly Azure Marketplace invoice and are not invoiced separately by Nerdio. For partner-led purchases, invoicing may vary and is often handled directly by the partner.

Nerdio Manager itself is installed and billed through Azure Marketplace, which is why billing visibility follows Azure billing constructs rather than standard Microsoft 365 subscription views.

Quick answer for finance or procurement teams

If your team is trying to reconcile the charge quickly, use this checklist:

  1. In Azure, navigate to Cost Management + Billing.

  2. Check that you are in the correct billing scope and tenant.

  3. Open Invoices.

  4. Filter the Type column for Azure Marketplace and Reservations.

  5. Look for the subscription tied to BillingForNerdioManager or the offer Billing subscription to Nerdio Manager Enterprise.

  6. If nothing appears, confirm whether the purchase was made through a CSP or partner. If so, the invoice may come from that partner instead.
