Find a host pool and open its menu

Most host pool tasks in Nerdio Manager start from the host pool's more options menu. This article shows how to find a host pool, and what the menu contains.

Find a host pool

Host pools are listed on the workspace that contains them.

To open a host pool's more options menu:

The Host Pools tab is the first tab on the workspace page. Hybrid host pools are on the Hybrid Host Pools tab.

To view the session hosts in a host pool, select the host pool's name, or select the monitor icon at the end of the host pool's row. This opens the Session Hosts page.

Static host pools show a convert icon in place of the monitor icon. Selecting it opens the Convert Host Pool dialog box, which converts the static host pool to a dynamic host pool. To view the session hosts in a static host pool, select its name.

Bulk actions on host pools

To run an action on a host pool's hosts without opening its menu, select the checkbox next to the host pool, and then select Select bulk action at the bottom of the page. The menu offers Deactivate hosts for selected, Associate VMs for selected, Run script on hosts for selected, and Migrate to Windows 365 for selected.

Host pool settings

When you select Settings, the host pool settings dialog box opens. Use the list on the left to move between sections: AVD, Directory, Virtual Machines, Azure Capacity Extender, RDP Settings, FSLogix, Session Time Limits, Console Connect, Real-Time Insights, Monitoring and Analytics, Scripted Actions, Application Policies, Business Continuity, and User Self-Service Portal. Select Save to keep your changes, or Save and Close to save and close the dialog box.

The Session Hosts page

The Session Hosts page lists the session hosts in a host pool. Use Search, Filter, and Columns to find hosts and change the columns shown. The table shows each host's name, VM, provisioning state, assigned user, and last user sign-in.

The page offers three actions below the table:

  • Select host pool action: opens a menu with Manage, Auto-scale, Applications, Settings, and Delete.

  • Select bulk action: opens a menu of actions for the hosts, including Resize/Re-image all hosts, Restart all hosts, Power on all hosts, Power off all hosts, Exclude from auto-scale all hosts, Activate all hosts, Deactivate all hosts, Delete all hosts, Message all users, Disconnect all users, Log off all users, Run script on all hosts, and Migrate to Windows 365 all hosts. For static host pools, Exclude from auto-scale all hosts isn't shown.

  • New host: add a session host to the host pool.

The more options menu at the end of each session host's row offers Restart, Power on, Power off, Generate RDP file, Resize/Re-image, Deploy apps, Run script, Send message, Request logs, Manage assigned user, Deactivate, Activate, Delete, and Migrate to Windows 365. Items that don't apply to the host's current state are unavailable.
