Nerdio Manager for Enterprise lets you move existing desktops onto AVD Personal host pools or Windows 365 Cloud PCs (Enterprise and Flex Dedicated) without rebuilding them from scratch, whether the desktop is coming from AVD, Windows 365, or a legacy VDI platform such as Citrix or Omnissa Horizon. Nerdio Migrate treats the desktop you're moving as a migration source and migrates it to the destination you choose, one desktop at a time or in bulk.
This article summarizes every migration path that Nerdio Manager supports today, what's coming next, and where to find the step-by-step procedure for each one.
Note
Nerdio Migrate moves persistent, 1:1 desktops (VMs assigned to a single user). Non-persistent (pooled) desktops aren't migrated directly. However, Desktop Images include the Citrix/Omnissa Horizon agent-removal script, so you can clean up an existing VM and use it as the base image for new non-persistent AVD or Windows 365 desktops.
Every migration follows the same basic shape, whichever source and destination you choose from the table in the next section:
-
If the source is already managed by Nerdio Manager (for example, an AVD Personal desktop or a Windows 365 Cloud PC), it's ready to migrate as-is.
-
If the source is anything else, such as a persistent VM from Citrix or Omnissa Horizon, it first needs to land in your Azure environment through whatever tooling fits (Azure Migrate, Azure Site Recovery, Nutanix Move, or your own process). It then needs to be linked to Nerdio Manager and discovered before it can be migrated.
Once a source is ready, migrating it looks the same everywhere: pick the destination, confirm the user assignment, and submit, one desktop at a time or in bulk. The exact steps for each path are covered in that path's own article; see Procedures below.
Single and bulk migrations are supported on every generally available (GA) and Public Preview path in the following table.
