Autoscale Profiles

I was looking forward to the new Autoscale Profile feature that arrived with v5.6, but the way it has been implemented has some limitations for large enterprise deployments.

Problem: The autoscale profile requires Host Pool Sizing to be defined.  Each of our pooled host pools have a different number of VM depending on usage requirements.  Having Host Pool size hard coded in the profile means i can't use the same template across different pools which defeats the purpose defining a profile.

Vision: To really make this feature viable, would it be possible to decouple the requirement to define Host Pool Size, Rolling Drain Mode and Pre Stage Hosts from the profile as these will always be different per host pool.  Defining Host Pool Properties, Scaling Logic, Messaging and Auto Heal settings are the only settings that are beneficial in a profile that could be used across many host pools.

I agree with Matt, I think the 'HOST POOL SIZING' should be decoupled at minimum. I have customers with alot of hostpools so i dont really use Autoscale profiles because of this reason.

Would be nice to pick and choose what you would like in the AUTO-SCALE profile.

EG. Scaling Logic + Prestage Hosts and nothing else.

Hi Matthew Goold - thank you for sharing this. I see the issue you describe. We will add a backlog item for this. George Zajakovski - thanks for your additional comments. The modular approach you suggest sounds interesting too!
