For existing environments with W365 there are multiple ways in which we can track how long a Cloud PC is actually being used. Since Cloud PC machines are always on, it could be beneficial to monitor actual (user) usage in hours per day/week/month.
This will help to better understand when / if Cloud PC’s make sense from a financial / usage perspective. Once you have that data, it will be relatively easy to compare to AVD.
There will always be exceptions where companies are willing to pay more for Cloud PC’s compared to AVD because of ease of use / Mgmt (not always the case though), lack of AVD/Azure expertise, etc. but at least you will have some valid data to compare. In practice this will lead to a more evenly spread of both solutions within the same company / environment as behaviour and usage patterns will also change over time.
This works the other way around as well. Use the current AVD user session and utilization data we have to see when AVD users fall between an RI and W365 Cloud PC. Based on the available Cloud PC SKU’s we could make recommendations for existing AVD users.
