Azure NetApp Files (ANF) and auto-scaling

I've recently been through a Support request process with Nerdio regarding an issue I noticed with Azure NetApp Files (ANF) and auto-scaling. Nerdio have confirmed that an ANF volume and capacity pool will only shrink if it was expanded by Nerdio in the first instance.

This seems like an opportunity missed. If the data on the volume is reduced i would expect Nerdio to shrink that volume and capacity pool within the specified settings.

Can this be enabled?

Hi Grimsey, Paul (Atos), thanks for this suggestion! We will investigate the request.

Hi Toby Skerritt I have been wondering if there is any update on this feature request at all?

Even when Nerdio scaled out the volume it seems very hit-and-miss as to whether there's any scaling back in as the text suggests "It will also decrease the volume, and optionally the capacity pool, size once the extra performance is no longer needed."

Hi Grimsey, Paul (Atos)!

There are a few changes we need to make to ANF scaling logic, which has some complexity, but we hope to get these changes in place for q1 25 (next few releases).

Please can you confirm which ANF scaling mode you are using currently?

Thanks

Hi Toby, thanks for coming back to me. We're using scaling in the simplest way, it's enabled on and manages both the volume and capacity pool.
