Hello,
Under personal desktop when I enable hibernation I am unable to enable backup.
Directly from Azure portal enabling hibernation and backup at the same time is possible for personal desktop VMs in hostpool.
personal desktop, hibernation do not work with backup
Marek Sokół thanks for raising. We will investigate the issue.
hi Marek Sokół - this functionality is still listed as a limitation of hibernation enabled pools (see below link). Can you please confirm you have tested this and that it works natively? Have Microsoft or Azure support provide any additional details saying that the Azure Backup feature is supported for hibernate enabled VMs? Thanks.
Hibernation overview - Azure Virtual Machines | Microsoft Learn
Hi Toby, Yes, it works for me, I can not publicly expose to much details from my system, but bellow is from the same VM:

Marek Sokół - thank you, but please confirm - have you tested and confirmed that the hibernate function is working as expected, and you can sleep / resume the VM with apps still running?
My understanding is that the Azure backup can only run if the VM is shut down & deallocated, which cannot be guaranteed if a VM may be hibernated.
We can also ask Microsoft about this feature, but any confirmation on usage and functionality you can provide is valuable. Many thanks!
Toby Skerritt, jest tested, and it is working fine. Backups are done when VM in on, off or hibernated. Found no issue so far.
Marek Sokół - thanks for confirming. We will investigate.
This issue was resolved in v6.6 of Nerdio manager.
Thank you, waiting for 6.7 GA, as 6.6 hass issue with supporting zip in Shall Aps
Tested on 6.7, I am now able to configure backup on hostpool with enabled hibernation.
Thank you.
