When Nerdio installs the ControlUp agent on Hosts, they are put into Drain mode. That is not necessary and can, in some cases, cause the hosts to be in drain mode for long periods if the installation fails and keeps restarting.
When Nerdio is installing ControlUp agents host go into drain mode.
Hi Róbert Þórir Sigurðsson - thank you for this suggestion. One of our pilot customers for CU integration specifically requested this behavior, but if you feel it is not necessary, we can investigate options for disabling this behavior.
I have been using CU for around 7 years and am unsure why this was requested. The installation is done in a few minutes after the host is created unless you have a ControlUP maintenance window where you install it during hours. Normal CU agent installation has no affect on Hosts/servers in my experience. The problem is that you don't get newly created hosts in CU until that maint window. Use cases like burst creation of hosts or just adding more hosts for whatever reason. Maybe if there was a toggle like we have when installing applications where we can select if we want to put hosts into drain mode or not could solve this for both parties.
The record we have is that it was requested to prevent additional resource usage impacting the user experience on shared hosts during active session usage. But your request is captured. Thank you.
Hi Róbert Þórir Sigurðsson - Did you create a support request for this issue? we would like to see the logs to understand why you are seeing installation failures, as this is not expected. Please could we request that you create a support request or share the ticket number if one exists already? Thank you!
