Problem:
Currently, creating desktop images requires manually selecting multiple settings (i.e., scripted actions, application management, schedule, tags, etc.) in the “Set as an image” menu. This increases administrative overhead and human error.
The image creation process also assumes a one-to-one relationship, with one Desktop Image VM required for each Image object, without ability to change naming convention for the Image object or use a single Desktop Image VM for multiple different Image configurations (one-to-many).
Description:
Introduce "Imaging Profiles" that allow defining persistent configurations for image creation tasks, including Image naming convention, to allow a one-to-many Desktop Image VM to different Image relationship.
Vision:
In the Nerdio Manager console, “Set as an Image” menu, provide a new section for “Imaging Profiles” where users can define and save templates that include settings such as:
- Image name conventions (with dynamic fields)
- Scripted actions
- Application management
- Tagging
- other available settings
During the image creation process, users can select from available Imaging Profiles to streamline and standardize deployments. This reduces the number of Dektop Images needed and shifts the complexity to well-managed profiles, improving scalability and operational consistency.
