Hi Team. We are hoping to add some new options to the Auto-shrink feature in Auto-Scale.
1. Is it possible to add an option that converts the disk to HDD after X days of no usage? This alone can save a lot of money and it can be used as the first step before deleting the VM. I know that we can configure scripts to run when the VM is scheduled to shrink, however I found that when a script is ran like that it powers on the VM first for no reason, so I am hoping that if this option is configured directly in the auto-shrink feature it will just convert the disk directly while the VM is OFF or power it off if it is not.
The other side of this first point would be to convert the disk back to premium ssd at some moment if the user signs back in, but I am not sure how you guys could make that happen.
2. Is it possible to have more options on this drop down menu please?
The idea here is related to the first point. If we convert the disk to hdd as a first step let's say after 2 weeks of no usage, we might want to leave the machine like that for some more time since it is not really costing that much. At this time we can select up to 1 month as seen above, but we want to be able to select 2 months or more maybe. I believe you can add some more options in there or maybe have an environment variable that we can configure to be able to see more options.
3. Another important part is the notification we send to the user. The issue might be when a user is on a medical leave and cannot see the email we are sending to notify them to sign in to avoid their machine from getting deleted. In this case a good solution would be if an email is also sent automatically to their manager. This is a field in the user account properties in entra id that contains the manager of the user. This would be a great addition.
4. Another great addition that would save even more money would be if for the VMs that are scheduled to be shrinked, Nerdio would check if the user account of that VM is active or not. There can be cases that the user has probably left the company. If Nerdio sees that than removing the VM quicker without waiting the full configured period would be very beneficial.
