Allow tokens in FSLogix profile path

In our environment, we store FSLogix profiles for each host pool in different subfolder of a common path.  For example:

\\host.fqdn\share\fslogix\<hostpoolname>

It would be nice if FSLogix supported some sort of token that would be replaced with the value at the time the hosts are imaged.  This would allow us to have a single FSLogix item in Settings/Profile Management that we could apply to all host pools.

We would like the AVD host pool name to be one of the tokens, but there are probably other tokens that other customers may find valuable.

That's an interesting use-case, Rod Savard.
Typically, we see customers using a shared FileShare structure so they can log in/out of multiple different host pools without multiplying their storage costs. However, I can see the benefit of your design as well. 🙂

Out of the box, FSLogix doesn't support that kind of variable for the profile path (see FSLogix Custom Environment Variables), but maybe we can put some Nerdio magic in the middle.

With our scripted actions, we support a number of variables (see below) that could do what you're wanting.
If our product team is able to pass through those variables in this part of Nerdio Manager, would that fulfill the ask?

I'd like to see this as well, for exactly the same use case.

Dave Stephenson : yes, I think that would work nicely!

Hi everyone, this is a great suggestion. Could you all share a list of variables that you would see value in seeing in regard to your environments?

$HostPoolName is the obvious one

It would be nice if this could be expanded into the LogDir value as well as the Profile and ODFC container paths.

In our environment we already created variable HOSTPOOLID, and configured one share for mamy hostpools.

But there is still a drawback when we are deleting the user profile, because there is no way how to teach Nerdio what does %HOSTPOOLID% mean, so each time deleting user profile we need tu update manually search string.

Best regards

Marek

Thank you all - we will investigate the feasibility of supporting variables across different share path inputs.

On a related note, we are also investigating implementing the ability to save custom profile search queries for FSLogix in a future release.
