Allow auto-heal to place and keep hosts in drain mode while undergoing recovery actions

Problem:
Currently, when a host goes to an unavailable or needs assistance state, auto-heal detects this and runs script to “Set Session Host Drain Mode” to take the unavailable host out of scaling. When this occurs, auto-scale then detects this same host in drain mode and activates it to bring host count up to normal. After this same “problematic” host is activated once again by auto-scale, it then detects it once again as Unavailable/Needs Assistance and sets it back to Drain mode via script listed above

Description:
Allow auto-heal to place and keep hosts in drain mode while undergoing recovery actions

Vision:
Allow auto-heal to place and keep hosts in drain mode while undergoing recovery actions

I have similar observation. Sometimes session host can be in Unavailable state because some Azure temporary issue, that will be self resolved. If in Unavailable state is currently the only one active session host, then nobody can log in.

My proposal would be:

If session host is in Unavailable/Needs Assistance, Nerdio should put session host to drain mode (or auto-heal action can do it), and set it to state Exclude host from scale OUT (requested here: Exclude host from scale OUT – Nerdio Manager for Enterprise

If problem is solved (status is back to Available), nerdio should disable Exclude host from scale OUT, and let auto-scale do the rest.

Best regards

Marek

Thank you all - we will review the request and investigate enhancing auto-heal to ensure that we keep these session hosts in drain mode during recovery actions until these sessions hosts are fully recovered.

Just curious if there's any plans in the immediate future to implement this into a future release?

Hi Corey Henning, this particular enhancement is on our roadmap. There is no timeline at the moment, but it is a priority item for us in the upcoming releases.
