We are using Desktop Images. Test host pools are recreated regularly from staged images, while production host pools use activated staged images.
The activation of a staged image is performed after X days, and production host pools are recreated following image activation.
Unfortunately, when we use latest applications from a private winget repository, it may result in production host pools having an application version that has not previously been tested on the test host pool.
On the other hand, going through every Deployment Policy and manually updating application versions to be installed is a time-consuming task.
REQUEST:
We would like to introduce a staging mechanism for the private winget repository, with a process such as:
- On Patch Tuesday, move all applications in the private winget repository from Staging to Latest
- Any newly synchronized application versions will initially be placed in Staging status
This approach would ensure that the same application versions are installed on both test and production host pools.
