Resize VM when "Start on Connect"

Currently resize VM does not run when the VM is started by "Start VM on Connect". This causes the VM to start with a lower performance Standard HDD instead of resizing it to Premium SSD before the VM starts. Please add this feature to "Start on Connect".

Hi Wei King Teh and thanks for the post in our feature requests forum!

Unfortunately, this is a limitation because "Start VM on Connect" is a transaction that happens between the end user and the AVD services directly; Nerdio is not involved in that process and is not aware until the machine is already powered on. We do call this out in our KB about the feature: Auto-scale: Cost Optimization Session Host VM OS Disk Storage – Nerdio Manager for Enterprise (getnerdio.com)

A couple ways I've seen customers work around this are to what's mentioned in the article and use pre-staging to swap disk types and/or leveraging the end user self-service portal Personal Host Pool User Self-Service – Nerdio Manager for Enterprise (getnerdio.com) for personal host pools so that users can leverage Nerdio to power on the machine before they log in. This ensures that Nerdio is aware of the power on process and can change the disk type before the machine powers on.
